Boat Description
"Cloud Nine" is a 53' pilothouse style motor yacht. We decided on a pilothouse style boat for the obvious reason, to provide a comfortable indoor area for cruising. We went to all the boat shows for five years before settling on the Marlow Explorer that we saw at the 2001 Miami Boat Show. We felt the Marlow was the best quality pilothouse motor yacht on the market. We made our decision and placed our order at the 2003 Miami Boat Show, when they announced their new 53' model. By ordering a new boat, we had the opportunity to choose all of the equipment and décor. The lead time then was approximately one year and a half which worked out fine with our schedule since we needed the boat in the late Fall of 2004. In June, 2004 we made a trip to the Marlow Factory in Tainan, Taiwan to see our boat while under construction. Our boat was the first 53' model, but very similar to the 57', 61' and 65' models. The boat was shipped from Taiwan by freighter to Florida in September, 2004 and was introduced at the November Ft. Lauderdale Boat show. We took delivery in December, 2004 in time to make electronic equipment installations for our Great Loop cruise to begin in January, 2005. The boat has Furuno radar and Navnet chart plotter, Satellite TV, Satellite phone/data/fax and the Weather Channel weather receiver. Our Marlow is powered with 2-700 HP Caterpillar engines and has one 20KW generator. Access to the engine room is from the lazerette.  Engine Room It has 3 staterooms and 2 heads plus a nice sized salon. The raised pilothouse also has the galley and dining area. The fly bridge has a Bimini top and another helm station. Also on the fly bridge is a nice outdoor entertainment area with seating, table, barbeque grill, sink, refrigerator and storage for our 11' Boston Whaler.
